Operations on The Littletowne RR

NARB LogoThe North Atlanta Rail Barons is an Operating Group, which means that we design and operate our railroads as prototypically (that just means "like the big boys do it!") as possible under scale conditions.

On the first Tuesday of every month, the North Atlanta Rail Barons assemble for an operating session. On May 6, 2014, we swarmed into Bill Zawacki's home for "The Lone Ranger" operations (you will have to ask Bill or Howard about the reference) on his Littletowne Railroad. If you haven't seen the excellent work that Bill has done on his layout, do not miss it on this year's Piedmont Pilgrimage in October or November.

Bill earned his Master Model Railroader certificate in 2011, and his Littletowne Railroad is the result of many years of painstaking modeling. All of his more than 50 structures are wood - with one exception, which he will invite you to locate! - and his whimsical sense of humor is evident in several scenes along the railroad's route.

Participants included Howard Goodwin, Rob Dodds, Perry Lamb, Walt Liles, Jim Travis, Boyd Bender, Brian Campbell, Steve Funsten, I. D. Jackson, Mark Thomann, Dean Webb, and Bob Wood. And, of course, Bill and his wife Mary Ann, who as always cooked up some delicious refreshments, made it all possible.

The Littletowne Railroad occupies a space of 9 by 18 feet, and while waiting for a train, members occupy the adjacent Crew Lounge enjoying refreshments and whatever railroad video is playing on the TV.

Here is a sample of what it looked like, and you can click each image for a larger view of the proceedings. For more pictures from Bill Zawacki's Littletowne Railroad, click here
